Could someone please guide me on what I would need to do to replace the inlet water valve inside this magnificent 23 year-old machine?

My guess... this is what I would need to do because suddenly it has developed a small water leak/dribble into the drum basin; it comes from just under the top cover, slightly to the right of the front-back centerline of the round opening in the top cover.

Of course the leak stops if I shut-off the washer's hot/cold water supply valve, thus not a big deal, but it sure would be nice to keep this machine running like new... "they sure don't make them like they used to"....

Thanks!

PS - My user manual is for LA6098XT/LA6888XT/LA7088XT; so far I'm not sure which of these I have but my guess is that regarding inlet valves they are all the same.

Eric, thank you again... My 23 year-old washer is now back 'good -as-new' <grin>... The video instructions were very clear and precise, the repair went very smoothly...

For the benefit of others I'll describe a bit of uncertainty I had when ordering the replacement inlet valve (the link you suggested). Long-story-made-short is that the model numbers referenced in the website included two extra letters compared to what appears in my printed manual... And when entering my numbers the 'verify compatibility' on the webpage would come back saying the valve was incompatible. Nonetheless I ordered the valve... the only issue was that my washer did not have a screw hole to secure the valve... but no big deal as the valve gets secured by sliding downward into the back cover. Of course I could have drilled the hole but I didn't bother. In the scheme-of-things perhaps all this was not even worth mentioning... but here it is for the benefit of other newbies... Cheers & thanks!
