I just did the lamp test. Lamp worked fine on L1-N and L2-N. The dryer repair person that came out Wednesday said the motor was bad, but looking at the wiring schematic I can't figure out why that would keep the dryer light from coming on also. I think he was just stumped and was trying to get out of here. If it makes a difference, mine is a GE GFDN240240EL0WW.

I think the model number you gave is incorrect. GFDN240240EL0WW, I think it should be GFDN240EL0WW.
I am sorry but I cannot help as I do not have access to GE wiring diagrams/tech info.
Perhaps try starting your own post using the Post New Topic in this section. Be sure to include the model number, make and symptoms/problems. Perhaps someone else has the required info to help you.
the wiring diagram/tech sheet may be in the control console. They often like to store them there. |

Sorry for the typo, the model number you put in is correct. I did find the wiring diagram inside the dryer, but I can't understand why these voltages would be reading this way.

Sorry but I do not follow what the problem is. I just did the lamp test. Lamp worked fine on L1-N and L2-N. If L1 to Neutral measures 120 volts and L2 to Neutral measures 120 volts and a light bulb works across both of these then I would say you do not have a power problem which is what the original poster had.
Without a wiring diagram I am lost.
I am supposed to go to the lake later today so may not be able to check this thread till next week. |

I am back from the lake and am happy to see you were able to repair the unit with help from fairbak56.
And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause. |
