I recently replaced the circulating fan as the original had become quite noisy. I followed the video and removed the ice maker and the panel that covers the cooling coils. As I use this unit for freezer overflow and beer, I don't need the ice maker so I didn't replace it after I put the coil cover back. Now the frig section isn't very cold while the freezer part is below zero.
What did I do wrong?

I cannot find info on the given model number so the below parts are for a TFF24RBC not RRC. Parts for GE TFF24RBC Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comCould it be that you messed something up with the damper between the fresh food and freezer sides., see Section 03 parts 426, 428 and 429. It regulates the amount of cold air entering the fresh food side Double check that the new fan is OK. Check that the vent lower down on the side wall between the sections ois OK and clear on both sides. Check that the evaporator coils are not clogged solid with ice/frost. Often a defrost problem will show up in the fresh food side first and later the freezer temperature will rise. |

When I open the freezer door and hold the interlock switch in with my foot, the fan comes on and rotates CCW. That is it blows in my face.
Is that right?
So you don't think I caused improper operation by removing the ice maker?

I am not sure about the blowing in your face but looking up the motor it in the parts it does say it is CCW.

No I do not think removing the ice maker should effect the fresh food side cooling.
To double check this you could just reinstall the ice maker without plugging it in to see what happens. |
