I just bought an older house and the people that lived here before left their stove behind. The stove top burners work but they took out both the broiler element and bake element.
I ordered both from Appliance Parts Pros today but would like to know how do I check to be sure that the element wires handing in the oven are working correctly. I am an electrician so you can be techy with me. Do I check across the wires for voltage etc if so what voltage and what temp range. Or do I just plug in the elements when I receive them and see if they work.
Thank you

I cannot find any info on the given model numbers.

Be careful as many units always have one side of the elements connected to power so unplug it when replacing elements etc.

I am assuming that you can tell which wires went to which elements.

If you set the unit to broil (you may also have to set a temperature depending on the unit) you should see 240 volts across the two wires.

If you set the unit to bake with about 350 degrees F you should see 240 volts across the bake element wires.
Note that in bake and preheat many units switch back and forth between the bake and broil elements.
This gives a faster preheat and also provides a more even temperature gradient in the oven when in bake.

The unit should stay in preheat when in bake.
If it shows that it is ready then you may have a problem with the oven sensor or control thermostat or board.

Below is a link to a site with basic stove repair info that you may find useful.

Or just wait and install the elements.

denman: Thank you for your reply. After reading it over I agree that maybe the best direction to go at this point is to wait a day for the elements to get here and plug them in and see what happens. If it works, no problem. If it does not then I can worry about fixing it. Old saying "don't fix what ain't broke".
But at least if something is wrong I can start with your suggestions and the site you sent me the link for.

Thanks
