Hi, all,
I have an upright Guaranteed Foods commercial freezer that just up and died on me one day recently--no weird noises, no half-frozen food warning.
I live in an old fixer upper house, so I am used to working my way through various repairs (I'm now an expert on my 1978 Maytag washer! HA!), but this brand doesn't seem to be common enough for me to find a manual/parts guide to help me feel my way around.
I know the unit is getting power, as there is a (an orange) light that is sporadically blinking on the front, right corner, (plus I checked the cord and outlet anyway). Any suggestions on what to check first? This thing is a behemoth.
For what it is worth the unit was gifted to me three years ago and have had nary issue with it. It sits in my basement--in a 1900's built brick basement--if that gives anyone a clue.
Thanks in advance--I usually learn so much from these postings and I really appreciate it.
Rosie

Here are the parts Parts for Frigidaire UFL2164ECW2 - AppliancePartsPros.comFirst check if the compressor is running. Usually you can hear it but should also be able to feel it vibrating. Is there no cooling at all or is there just not enough cooling? If there is no cooling and the compressor is running then odds are that it is a sealed system problem. This will be an expensive repair as you need a pro. Often it makes more sense to put the dollars towards a new unit. If there is some cooling then it could be also be a sealed system problem re: low on freon. If the compressor is not running then it could be a thermostat or a compressor start device problem. |

Thanks, denman.
The compressor isn't running. There is power to the unit and I hear a click after a few moments of being on, but the compressor doesn't start up.
