I can not get the door open. I have stopped the running of the machine by turning the swtich to off. However, I can not get the door open. When I tried to lift and step on the foot bar, nothing.

I do not have it. Since I can not find the original paperwork, plus I can not open the door. Help! Sorry I'm so vague. I have set up an appointment with a service person for Monday. I did find a metal spring on the floor of the kitchen. I'm assuming it goes to the compactor.

Open the bag storage compartment on top of the unit and look for the model number on the side wall inside.

If it's not there then remove the trash compactor from the cabinet. Remove the rear panel, and using an adjustable wrench, turn the large nut to lift up the ram. Remove the drawer and look for the model number on the frame.
