Here are your parts Parts for Whirlpool KGRT607HBS6 Range - AppliancePartsPros.comAs far as I know just the cable is not available. You have to replace the keypad/console. Also if the tracks have shorted to each other it may have taken out the microcomputer. If it is just one track that has failed then there is a possibility that it can be fixed but there are provisos. 1. the cable must not bend where the fault is. 2. You have to have a precise and delicate touch. If you want to give this a shot then just let me know and I will give you the procedure. |

Thanks Denman, I'd like to try but the fault was right at the top of the bend. It was only one strip. Could that be fixed?

I doubt it.
There can be no movement at all where the repair is. On a flat part of a cable this is easily accomplished but taping cardboard etc. to it so it cannot flex.
The fix involves using a glue/resin impregnated with copper particles. This is the stuff used to repair rear window car defogger tracks or a repair kit for keypad contacts. It dries brittle so any movement will just crack it. |
