Twice in the last 6 months my refrigerator and freezer have stopped cooling. When I get home everything inside is warming up. Light comes on when I open the door. Changing temp settings does nothing. I found that unplugging it and plugging it back in and it starts working again just fine.
The first time I just thought it was a fluke and since it was running again everything was fine. But now it happened again, but several months have gone by. Once I restart it, it seems to work normal.
It is an Amana side-by-side fridge with freezer drawer below. Icemaker in freezer, water inside fridge door. (I don't have the model number with me right now).

You have to include a model number. Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.comSince unplugging it resets the unit it is probably an electronic part so it may be the adaptive defrost board or the control board if the unit uses either of these. |

Here are your parts Parts for Amana AFD2535DES Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the tech sheet And here is a link to a manual. It covers a lot of units so is probably only partly applicable to your unit. You will have to join the site and be logged in to be able to download the manual. http://appliancejunk.com...&id=409;t=1404978417Your problem will be a pain as it is very intermittent. You could try running the diagnostics to see if anything shows up. You could also do it again when the problem happens but this may cost you a fair amount of money is spoiled food. I would say that the control board (jazz pcb) is the problem. This is just a guess but it is the only part in the unit that would reset with powering off. |
