I had to replace my frig last week. Bought a Haier with top mount freezer. It included a free ice maker. After 24 hours, the ice maker had not made ice. I read manual and adjusted the water fill level. I noted the ice maker was very hot to touch, even the plastic part over the metal ice tray. It also smelled like something was burning. A few minutes later I noted the plastic gears just inside the front cover were no longer spinning. It was just dead. I returned it and got a replacement. Once installed, it did the same thing within just minutes of being installed. Hot to touch, smelled like something burning. This one is also dead. Installation seems fairly simple - plug in, put cover over plug, rest unit on protruding screws on side of freezer compartment, install one screw below ice maker to hold it in place. However, for some reason, it just comes to a grinding halt on me. Any ideas before I exchange this one for yet another ice maker and try again??? I cannot keep doing this due to the cost of gas and making trips to other counties. Thanks.
