Tub fills with water, agitates, stops. Turn dial to "rinse", "spin" - nothing. Try again, and again, and again, finally get water to "spin" out. Is it a switch, or some part that needs to be replaced????

That's not a model number. Should be a tag with model number and serial number.

Yes, that's it. We must have model number to look up parts manual and examine the wiring diagram. All washers are different. Estate is just a brand name. I think you either have a faulty lid switch or timer. Most likely the lid switch but the fact that messing with timer did make the drain/spin functions work indicates timer but could just be coincidence. You can jump out the lid switch to rule that out. If it still won't work unless you keep messing with the timer knob, then replace the timer. All parts purchased from APP may be returned if they don't fix the problem.
