Need to know the horsepower for Amana TX21VL refridgerator. Can I use a 3 in 1 start kit and if so, which one?
Thanks,
Joe

Refrigerator is making a buzzing sound every so often. Both fridge and freezer are warm. Am I on the right track as far as replacing the starter?

Use the specified ptc start device 10097202 and make sure you not exactly how the old one is wired. Do NOT use the 3 n 1, you will blow out your compressor.

Sometimes you need to remove things like connectors, or bend tubing. The cover comes off easily and the ptc device just plugs in the bottom two compressor terminals. Make note of which wire goes where on the ptc device. If the start device is blown, it will rattle when shook and the compressor will be hot but not vibrating.

and what is the device that sits above the ptc device? It is white and black with two black wires and plugs into the third pin on the compressor. I am guessing it is the overload. Correct?

I do not have the ptc start device in yet but, if it still does not work after I do put it in, would replacing the overload be my next step?

Most of the time, the start device is bad and the overload is ok, rather rare for them to be bad.
