O, great appliantologists: I request assistance from your depth of knowledge and wisdom. Over the past few months, the Kenmore washer I own has made a buzzing sound from the timer, yet advances as usually expected through cycles. The washer now won't go through proper cycling. The unit fills as expected, then agitates but won't advance through the remainder of the cycles. When manually set to RINSE, a buzzing sound comes from where the timer is and the unit doesn't advance or do anything else. When manually set to SPIN, the washer drains but won't spin initially; when the timer knob is pushed in and then pulled out again at the same position, the unit spins. I've checked some of the blog postings in the forum, but can't seem to find a posting that matches the issues this unit has. Please help this grasshopper. Thanks. :)

Sounds like a faulty timer. This washer has a neutral drain transmission. It drains for 2 minutes without spinning, then motor pauses and starts again causing transmission to shift out of neutral at which point washer starts spinning while continuing to drain. You are pausing motor by pushing/pulling timer knob. New timer should take care of the problem, if not, you may return it.
