Due to leakage, I replaced the door gasket about six months age. It stopped the leak, but apparently the new gasket is so tight that the door would no longer shut to the point that the lock would engage. In order to run a cycle, I have to push and hold the door in while I push the start button. I then have to hold the door shut for about 30 seconds while it goes thru its preliminary locking, unlocking, locking process. From that point the cycle runs fine until the end of the cycle when at times the door won't unlock. I thought I might need to replace the door lock, but didn't want to spend the $150 for a new one if that wasn't going to help. However, the button on the lock got broken off so I replaced it this week. New lock has the same results. I'm convinced that the problem is simply that the new gasket fits so tight on the door that the door latch doesn't get into the lock far enough for the lock to engage without being held in place. Any ideas?
