Had an issue with warm refrigerator on an Amana side by side. Evaporator fan not running, disassembled unit to access evaporator. Removed evaporator motor, tested good, hardwired and ran on bench for one hour. No voltage to motor suspect; found defective defrost control, bypassed and unit runs normally. I was called in to an emergency at work, came home two hours later only to find unit was not frosted up, nothing operating except lights. What have I done???

Here are your parts. You will have to choose the correct one from the Matching Model Numbers section as your model number seems to be shy a few digits.

I cannot say what you have done as I do not know how you bypassed the defrost timer.

How long did you wait when it was off.
It sounds like you are in a defrost cycle, it should last for about 30 minutes.

You could try manually turning the defrost timer cam to see if the unit will fire up.

I would replace the timer ASAP as the unit will not run for any length of time without defrost.

Attached is the tech sheet for the SXD25 series perhaps it will help you figure out what is going on.

I bypassed the defrost thermostat and wired those two wires directly. Everything worked fine, evaporator fan was running (did not have sheet metal cover installed over evap), got an emergency call and came home two hours later to find the unit off. Cabinet lights work when door opened, has power. When I plugged it in this morning, just cabinet lights, no comp, cond. fan or evaporator fan; should I check defrost timer? Thank you

When you said "found defective defrost control", I thought you meant the defrost timer.

First I would move the main temperature control thermostat up and down a bit.
If the unit fires up it is probably that control sticking open.

If the above is OK then I would check the timer.
