I am having a weird issue with our wpre8150k2wt. At times when we try and press the start button nothing happens. I hear the button clicking but it is not doing anything. Other times it will work fine. If I just press the button for a while and do not turn a dial the the timer will time off and turn off.

So I do not think it is a motor issue. Not sure if it is board issue that is not cheap. Or if it could be something that I am not thinking of.

I have unplugged the washer for a few minutes and this does not fix the issue. I thought maybe it was the lid switch but when I close the lid I can hear it also click. It works perfect every time when the washer is working.

There are times I have to hold in the button for 30secs for it to start. Other times it could be over a minute. So far I have been always been able to get the washer started. It is kind of being a pain in the butt.

Thanks for any help.

This model has a diagnostic generating codes built into the inverter on the motor. So take off the front panel by inserting a think putty knife in the gap between the top and front near the edges to release clips that hold the front panel on and see if you see flashing green lights.

Here is a link to interpreting the codes if you have one.

HydroWave GE Washer Repair Guide

The first thing you want to do is try a reset, something that is all that is needed.

After posting this my washer worked fine for weeks. Now it is back to acting up. I pulled the front cover. I see 3 flashed and then instead of a .5 second it is about a 1 second gap. In looking at the video it should be a 6 second gap if it is posting a code. Guessing I am not getting a error code. I have the version where it is a single green light.

Think it could be the switch on the board that is bad? I see unplugging it resets it. How do you clear codes if one needs to be cleared?

Thanks again for your help.

The link will tell you how to reset the board. Try it and see if that helps. If not and you cannot get error codes it could mean the inverter is bad and since that is integrated with the motor it means replacing that unit. Ouch

Just missed how to clear. I have no codes it just blinks and it will not start. Is there a way to see of the Start/Pause switch is bad. I did notice when I took apart the top of the unit after I pulled the board the rubber cover fell right off because it has been pushed in that hard. Wondering if that could be the issue. Thank you again for your help.

That could well be the problem. You may to just try replacing the part, but if you buy from this site and the part does not fix the problem you can return it.

Wanted to give an update on this. Looking at the cost of the top control board it was more then the deductible we had on the appliance warranty that came when we bought our house. After they came out it was the control board. There was a relay that went out in it. They replaced it and everything works great. Thought I would post this in case someone else have the same issue. Know when the warranty is up in a few months I will be using this site and order parts if needed.
