we just moved to a new house and our dryer plug does not match the existing outlet. The plug is a 4 prong and the wall outlet is a 3 prong. We bought a replacement plug to install on the dryer and are not sure how to wire the new plug. Please help.

why change the plug when you could have changed the outlet ? do you know the diff between black, red and white wires on the plug ... You should put black to black, red to red, white to white , and run a ground wire from the dryer to your metal outlet box or conduit or cold water line ( check into ground strap at your local hardware store .. )
