Im new at attempting my own appliance repair and am hoping I can get some more experienced insight. I have a front load Kenmore He2 plus that was purchased around 5-6 years ago. A month ago we noticed a leak that appeared to be coming from the bottom of the front door. It may have been due to overloading or some items that were getting stuck around/in the rubber seal. Whatever the cause it would leak from time to time. Shortly after this I started a load and after pressing start the washer locked the door, wouldnt start the cycle and flashed an error code "F11". It also started to smell like burning wires. According to the tech manual the error is an internal motor control unit issue. I can locate the MCU, however given the leaking and smell of burning wires Im afraid the issue could go deeper and am afraid of spending a lot on a replacement part that will not fix the issue. Im hoping someone may have some advice... is there any way to test the MCU to ensure it needs to be replaced or to test other aspects of the washer to ensure this is the only damaged part (aside from a possible leaking issue if it wasnt only an overloading issue)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
