Getting AF (Air Flow) error code. The main clue I see is that the dryer lint screen is only catching lint on the bottom third of the screen. Before this problem started the entire screen would have lint coverage as usual. I assume this is telling me that the problem is in the dryer, and not the vent pipe in the house. Am I right, and do you have any tips on what to look for? Thanks.

You cannot rule out the exhaust.
So I would eliminate that frirst as that is the easiest.
Unplug the unit and disconnect it from the vent system. Now try a run. If it now dries OK odds are the vent system needs checking/cleaning. Be sure to check that the louvers on the outside of the house open correctly.
If you do not want any lint in the house. Take a pair of pantyhose. Put one leg into the other and then attach this to the dryer's vent. Leave enough room so the pantyhose can balloon out like a windsock.
Both the above will let you check the temperature and the air flow. |

It was a birds nest about two foot inside the vent from the outside, backed up with a lot of lint. I went there first after cranking up the dryer unhooked from the vent and seeing the hurricane coming out the vent. I took a four foot piece of cabinet trim with a treble fish hook attached and loosened all the stuff up and cleaned it out. Thanks for the help.

You are welcome.
And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause. |
