Does this only occur in auto dry or both auto dry and timed dry cycles?

Eric, thanks for your reply. I put a few wet clothes directly out of the washer in the dryer. set dryer on 30 minutes. timer ran fine, clothes dried well, dryer shut off. so I would say everything fine with times dry. but not auto. thanks

Does timer advance at all during auto dry cycle? If not, may just need to clean the moisture sensor rods. If timer does advance but won't shut dryer off, then timer is the likely suspect.

Clean the moisture sensing bars in the drum. If that is not the problem, you probably have a faulty dryness sensor board.
