I had a clicking sound coming from this refrigerator with no cooling. Checked and found capacitor bad and relay on board clicking. Replaced capacitor and main control board. Unit began operating and ran for about two minutes when it stopped suddenly. I checked the board and found that the transformer on the board had burned up. Is there anything else I should check before I put in a new board?

Yes, you should check to see if your compressor is shorted to ground. If it is not shorted to ground, you need to check the rest of the fridge for a short, which is what is causing that board to burn up. You might seriously consider calling for refrigerator repair service.

Thanks. I contacted G.E. and they are sending a new board. Will go through all the components though and make sure that nothing is grounded. Checked compressor before board was changed and everything was good; good readings between windings and no ground. Compressor did start and run normally after board change. Checked board again today and found that resistor had burned, not transformer. Any thoughts?
