My electric dryer quit heating and actually ran all night without stopping. Do I need to replace the heating element or is it just a Fuse?

First try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker and the timer requires the full 240 volts.
If this does nothing then put the timer on Timed Dry mid cycle.

If the timer does not advance then you probably have a power problem somewhere

If the timer advances, you have the 240 volts.
Then the heater becomes the prime suspect.
When in an Auto mode the timer gets power through the heater when the thermostat shuts it off so if the heater blows the timer does not advance and it will run forever.

This right here solved my problem! I was googling how to fix my same exact dryer with the same exact problem. I checked the continuity of all the electrical components, replaced the heating element (which I didn't need to do), and cleaned out the vent -all to no avail. As per this youtube video right here: Fixing an Electric Dryer that Doesn't Heat and the Timer Won't Advance (but the motor runs) - YouTube I thought it might have something to do with the power. More googling had me stumble on your post.

I switched the breaker off and on a couple times and BOOM! It works. Thanks a bunch!
