Need help. This refrigerator came out of a rental we have. It was not cooling so I brought it home and decided to fix it for a garage refrigerator. It was not cool in the refrigerator compartment but the freezer was fine. The evaporator fan wasn't running so I replaced it. Then it would get really cold in the both the frig and freezer compartment and wouldn't shut off. So I replaced both the thermostat and the defrost timer. I also replaced the thermostat control. Nothing has helped. The temp readings are mid 20's in frig and -20's in the freezer. I in order for it to quit running I have to manually turn the dial all the way to off. It will kick back on if I turn it back up but never turns off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here are your parts includes a wiring diagram Parts for Frigidaire MRT15CSEWD Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comI would say that either the control thermostat you purchased is defective or the end of it's capillary is in the wrong place. Since turning the thermostat to off manually opens it's contacts and this does shut the compressor off, I think that the circuitry is OK. It just will not open the contacts automatically dependent on temperature. You could check if the contacts open by removing it and placing the capillary end on an ice cube to see it the contacts will open. Monitor the contacts with a meter. |
