Hi everyone,
My top loading washer wouldn't stop filling with water and it overflowed everywhere. My wife manually changed the spin cycle and it drained so we stopped everything to clean up the mess.
To troubleshoot we tried to wash again and worked perfectly (it didn't over fill) until it got to the rinse cycle. So it filled, washed, drained, I'm not sure if it actually did the spin cycle, but at some point I noticed that it was continuously trying to drain even though there was no water. So we stopped the washer so the pump wouldn't burn out.
Any idea what this could be? Timer? Pressure Switch?

Remove the front panel and disconnect the hose on the left side of the tub. Clean out any gunk in the hose as well as in the air chamber on the tub. Air chamber is not removable so you need to use a piece of wire to get inside and also can try and flush some hot water through it. Be careful as you don't want to break the hose nipple off the air chamber. What is model number of washer?

Hi Eric,
You mean the small hose that attaches to the pressure switch, right? I'll give this a try when I get home.
I don't have the model number with me right now, but I think it was GSVR1060H if I remember correctly.

Yes, but check it where it attaches to the tub, not at the pressure switch.

Success!
I had to clean out the dome and the pipe, it was full of gunk. My friend says it may be because we wash with cold water, that the soap can't fully dissolve.
Anyways, it seems to work so far.
