This is so stupid. My installer did not remove the protective skin on the outside of the stainless steel exterior before attaching the handle to the door. I think we have all seen demo dishwashers with plastic remnants around the door handles from what was probably the same situation.
So, that handle is on tight, tight, tight. If I try to remove the plastic, will it likely leave little shards around where the handle attaches to the door? Do I have to remove the handle to get a clean removal? Can the handle even be removed without opening up the door assembly?
Thanks,
Lar

I cannot tell you as your model number is incorrect.
Kenmore numbers are 3 digits, a period and then an additional 8 digits. |

Try 665.12783K311. It goes my 12783 but, you are correct, this is the actual model number. Sorry.

Yes you may have to remove the handle. You could try grabbing the plastic with tweezers and pulling it out.
At least it is worth a shot.
The handle is held on by allen keys which go in from the bottom of each side. You will have to loosen these and then the handle will come off.
If youi go to trhe Sears parts site and search your unit they have parts breakdowns.
Units usually come with the correct allen key so with luck you installer left that for you. |

If you purchased an extended warranty thru sears make them come out and correct the install..... might have them do that reguardless as it should have been done right the first time....

Thanks for the insight. Just needed to know about the Allen screws from underneath and the rest was a cinch. I would have had Sears come back if they had installed it upon delivery. But, the general contractor was running behind and we weren't ready for the dishwasher to be installed. So, the GC installed it later instead. I think we got the GC's "B" team as this was just one of a long list of failings. At least this one was easily remedied.
Thanks again!
(Good thing I checked back as I didn't get any notification of your replies)

Ah, NP, I carry that small wrench in my tool bag as alot of times the installers dont get them tight enough and they need chinched up after a while, BTW that dishwasher is manufactured by whirlpool.... I do like whirlpool products above most of the others...... Good luck.....

Its amazing how every area of consumer goods has become monopolistic (e.g. Whirlpool). When shopping for the dishwasher, I was surprised by this. The Kenmore was not only priced well but Sears apparently customizes their feature sets and we liked that, too.
This may be a good time to ask.... is the longevity of parts availability for Kenmore models any different than the rest of the Whirlpool family of appliances?
Thanks, Lar

Same difference, same parts set...... Typically they try to limit what parts say Kenmore vs Whirlpool, if you open the door up all the parts will be Whirlpool, as with any other in the unit, it only says Kenmore on the door and sticker.....
