Remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch. Pull the pump from the front of the motor and see if it will now spin. Also check wiring connector at motor. Unplug connector and inspect for corrosion/burning and pull on each wire to make sure none have broken inside the connector housing. Check connections at motor thermal overload switch. Don't have wiring diagram for that older model (96?). Can you post hi-res photo of it and the timer chart? Should be inside the control panel. if it keeps filling unless you stop it, there is a problem with your pressure switch. check to make sure the little plastic air tube is firmly connected to your tub and also to the pressure switch; if it is, remove the end that hooks to the tub and blow into it. if you DO NOT hear a little click, either your pressure switch is bad or the line is blocked somewhere. once you have this problem sorted, try running a complete cycle then.

Agree with that but make sure water level is below level of the air chamber before removing hose or water will come out of it. Pressure switch may be the problem with overfilling but would not cause no drain/spin when timer is manually advanced to those settings. You seem to have multiple problems.

hi eric, thank you for your help, we bypassed the door switch and wires all looked ok everywhere- we pulled the pump off the motor and pulled the motor out. everything spins freely by hand including the motor, however when we try to agitate, spin or drain the motor hums and does not spin while disconnected from everything (sitting all by itself) it is very dusty inside the motor. any thoughts? probably need a new motor? thanks again- Dee

Not necessarily. With motor humming, spin shaft by hand fast as you can and see if it will start. If it does, problem could be motor switch, capacitor or timer. Motor switch is the part that the wiring connector plugs into. Unplug connector and check continuity between two outermost terminals on motor. One has black wire, other is where red wire from connector plugs into. Should read 0 (zero) ohms (short). If not, remove screw from switch and remove cover to inspect contacts. Also check wiring (red wires) at capacitor that is mounted to motor. Make sure they are clean and tight. Check capacitor for loose terminals and for any splits/cracks/bulges in housing. Still need that wiring diagram. Eric
