My top load GE washer is only 1 year and 2 months old. It has started banging uncontrollably (increases as the spin cycle progresses) and walking (towards the end of the spin cycle). If I do not have any clothes in the washer it runs completely fine, but as soon as I add even the smallest (or largest) load, it does this. The washer is level and the shipping rod has been removed. It appears that the washer tub is not centered when I open the lid (pulling to the right). I did remove the top, and the dampening straps are not broken. Could someone please help me with what I should check, do, or replace? Thank you so much.

Maybe one of the suspension rods has come loose from the tub mounting assembly. Open the front panel to check on this. Also check that the counterweight at back of this assembly hasn't come loose. Common for the bolt to loosen on this. http://www.appliancepartspros.c...for-ge-gtwp2250d0ww.htmlEric

Eric,
The suspension rods are not loose unfortunately. Could you tell me how/where to check the counterweight. Thank you!

So I don't know why I didn't notice this before... This is going to be a horrible description but it appears that the main part of the washer has "hopped" onto the opposite side of the metal bracket on the right hand side. I am assuming the washer should hang in between the two metal brackets? Not just on one side... How would I go about getting it back to where it belongs and any idea how this could have happened? lexi1228 attached the following image(s):

Well, the whole thing just hangs by the suspension rods so just lift it up and over but make sure none of the four suspension rods comes loose from the support. Don't know how it got like that other than a really unbalanced load at some point.
