Dryer keeps blowing thermal fuse even after everything is cleared of any blockage

My dryer keeps blowing the thermal fuse. When I purchased the second one I pulled the vent tube inside the dryer to make sure there was no blockage inside and then I unplugged the vent hose from the outside vent and ran it with a pantyhose attached. It ran for approximately 50 mins and then blew the fuse again. I really don't know where to go from here. I can't afford to keep buying fuses till I get it right. I also refuse to just let anyone work on something that I can do for myself.

Here are your parts Parts for Whirlpool WED6200SW1 Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for your tech sheet. I am assuming that the fuse you are replacing is the one on the blower. First I would check the heating coil. Unplug the unit and both wires going to the heating coil. Measure the coil, it should be about 10 ohms. Then measure from each heater connector to the heater case, both should be infinite ohms. if not the heating coil is grounded and needs replacing. |

Yes it's the fuse on the blower. Thank you I will check the heater coil and go from there. It's kind of what I was thinking. But didn't know if it was the thermostat, I just want sure. I always thought the heating coil would just burn out and then you would have no heat or very low heat. Thank you for the quick reply.

The heater coil is just the first thing to check.
Next would be the thermistors.
If all OK then probably it is a control board. It could be the electronics on the board or the heat relay contacts on the board are sticking closed intermittently. |
