I've read the various posts here on this topic, so I have a pretty good idea of the answer I'll get, but...

The bottom oven of our double wall oven does not operate in bake mode. When I turn it on and set it to any temperature, the panel displays 170, there is a faint click from the control panel, but nothing else happens. No glow from the ignitor, and a clamp meter shows no current flow. The lower broiler works. I swapped the ignitor from the upper oven which, although slow to light, works, and no joy in the lower oven. Looking at the schematic and reading the various posts here, it appears that the fault has to be either the K1 relay on the lower oven relay board or a wiring fault. The oven failed in the middle of baking something so I don't think it's wiring... Could the control module cause this?

The problem, it would appear, is that the relay board is NLA. Has anyone had success getting this board repaired? And, by the way, how do you get the board out? Do I have to pull the oven out of the wall?

Thanks in advance,

Peter

With the necessary assistance of a helper, we pulled out the double oven to get at the Lower Oven Relay Board. In my case the oven was affixed in the wall with just 4 screws, plus the gas line and power cord. We had to disconnect the gas line, as it was hanging up where the flex line enters the oven cabinet. Anyway, after removing the top cover of the oven, the relay board clips/standoffs which hold it in place are much more accessible, as are the various wiring connections. Per a suggestion made on another list, I checked the voltage across the relay with the Bake off and on. With Bake engaged it should have read 0 VAC, but it read 120 VAC in both states, pretty suggestive of a busted relay. We removed power and pulled the board and saw a very obvious burned spot at one of the relay connections on the PCB. So it's on it's way to the repair shop in Texas. Hopefully they've got a relay to replace the bad one!

The lower oven relay board was returned, repaired. Although no test data/QA sheet came with the repaired board, it is clear that they replaced a relay on the board. Today the board was reinstalled, and the board worked as it should. Both ovens now bake and broil.

Since the ovens were out of the wall, I took the opportunity to replace the broiler ignitors for both ovens. The ignitors are threaded out the side of the ovens and the wire nut connections are on the side of oven and are not otherwise accessible.
