My dishwasher wasn't filling at all and I checked to see if the inlet valve was getting power, and it was. I also checked the water line and the screen on the valve to make sure nothing was clogging it. So, I figured it must be the inlet valve.

I replaced it and when I turned the machine on, it started to fill up and the float switch never made the clicking noise that it should make when it gets activated, and then it stopped filling and made 3 humming noises as if it were trying to start the wash cycle. After 3 humming noises, the humming stopped and the cancel light came on and it drained all of the water out.

I don't know where it is supposed to fill up to, but it does not get filled up to anywhere near the heating element and it only fills for about 30 seconds before switching to the humming sound. There is only about an inch of water and then it drains completely.

Does this mean the inlet valve that I just got is bad or is it something else?
