This is a single drawer type dishwasher.

A little background. I replaced the wash pump a few days ago. I unlocked the drawer from the slides just far enough so I could remove the bottom cover to access the pump. After reassembly I ran a load and the drawer will pop open at various times stopping the cycle. I hit the start/resume button, close the drawer and it resumes, but the drawer will pop out again. It only opens so far to stop the cycle.

Prior to this I had no problem with the drawer staying shut. I checked and there does not seem to be anything preventing the drawer from staying closed.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Here are your parts
Parts for Whirlpool KUDD03STSS0 Dishwasher - AppliancePartsPros.com

Item 1 in section 02 is described as a latch kit.
I have never worked on a unit like this so am just guessing that the above latches the drawer.

Perhaps the following manual I found will be of some help to you.
http://appliancejunk.com...&id=230;t=1385575449
You will have to join the site and be logged in to be able to download the manual.

Sorry I could not be more helpful.
With luck someone else will jump in who has actually worked on one of these.

Thanks for the comeback.

I have the parts list from Whirlpool and the item you pointed out was listed as a "line break assembly". That's why I could not figure out where the latch was. I cross referenced the part number I had and it came back as the latch kit. You helped by supplying the parts list from the site.

I haven't checked the latch yet to see if it is bad, I'll get to it Saturday and post my findings. If I have to replace it, I'll let the board know how to do it. However, from what I've seen it should be straightforward. thanks again.

Took a little while but, got the problem fixed. It was the right hand drawer slide. The plastic lock that causes the drawer to self close was broken. It's a small part that cannot be replaced, you have to replace the complete slide assy.

The part called the latch kit is really the switch that activates the washer when the drawer is shut. It does not actually latch the drawer. I did replace this also.

In both cases the drawer has to be removed and set off to the side on a chair or equivalent.

The latch kit is in the rear of the unit held on by 1 screw. To remove, disconnect the two electrical connectors, remove the screw and slide the unit to the left disengaging it from the white part. Installation is the reverse.

The slide is held in by 3 screws. Remove the screws and the slide comes right out. Installation is the reverse. The left hand slide is the same.

I'm really learning a lot more about my diswasher than I had planned on. :D
