I just bought a used Maytag Neptune gas dryer with the electronic control panel . It will not start to turn the drum no matter what sequence I try. It just kind of tugs but that is all. The display then goes to 8.8 The drum turns easy and I did get it to run for a short while on the timed dry cycle but now I cant get it to do anything. The door switch is being held in manually and I dont think that is the problem since it did run for a while. It is not hooked up to the gas line but the ignitor glows when I can get it to run. The dryer is clean and I dont want to scrap it or spend a fortune on it. Can anyone suggest some kind of a solution ?

I just found an entry in another web site pertaining to this problem. That person mentioned that this panel is not responsive when it is in a cold room or garage. Our garage where I work on these appliances is about 40 degrees. The other person mentioned that they had the same problem with the display showing 8.8 and the dryer would not turn on. especially if the room was below 60 degrees.F They put a heating pad up next to the panel ,let it warm up the area , and it worked every time. Has anyone else out there ever tried this approach and did it work ?
