Hi guys,
Recently my d/w has been giving me grief. Items in the top rack are coated with a white residue after washing.
I've cleaned out the sump area around the chopper and the little rubber valve, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. The chopper screen itself was pretty clean, although there was a fair amount of hard junk (shells, toothpicks) down in there.
I've put 5 bowls upright in the top rack and they're filled when the cycle's done, so that indicates that the top arm is working - at least partially.
This has been going on for over a week and the wife is getting quite frustrated, so I'm hoping to figure out how to fix this thing soon!
Thanks.

Check the fill tube leading up to the upper and middle spray arms for glasses and make sure your flap isn't open or losing pressure up to the middle and top.......also check the spray arm holes and make sure there is no food or debris clogging the holes................Take a glass measuring cup and put 2 cups of white vinegar in it and put it in the bottom rack and prop it so it doesn't tip over and run the unit with heated water and see if that helps it helps breakdown mineral deposits and other things also you can substitute the jet dry fill with vinegar as well........DO NOT USE BLEACH AND VINEGAR TOGETHER ITS TOXIC..........Good luck......if these tricks don't work you're sump pump may be getting weak they are usually only very strong for 5-7 years now if your lucky.

Thanks for the reply. I've used a bit of vinegar before and that has helped clean the existing deposits, but doesn't keep the new film from appearing.
Where's the flap you're referring to?
It doesn't appear like the top spray arm is spinning. It's in the same position every time I check as the start of the cycle. The bottom arm is definitely moving, and I believe the middle arm is.
The top arm not spraying would definitely explain my problem, but so far I can't see why it's not working. I cleaned it when I cleaned the sump and grinder.
We've only had this for about 3 years, so I would expect the motor to be in good shape.

I took apart the fill tube and found the flapper valve for the middle spray arm I believe you were referring to - it's stuck open. What's the replacement part number?
Is the service manual available for this? I also need the retaining bracket for the middle spray arm that attaches to the back of the upper rack. Apparently I broke it at some point.

After further examination, the upper flapper valve that was stuck open is the one where our upper tray manifold usually is, so I suspect that's not the problem after all.
I took apart the fill tube and cleaned it completely, although there wasn't anything blocking the flow that I could see. Water ran freely from the manifold intake (@ flapper valve) through the upper spray arm.
I verified after re-assembly that the upper spray arm isn't spinning, although the middle one is.
I'm at a loss. What else can it be?

Yeah i'm at a loss to because your unit doesn't have a diverter on the schematics from the incomplete model number you displayed controlling which spray arm it goes to like most kitchen aids.......it's either put back together wrong, is losing water somewhere up the fill tub or the spray arm isn't moving properly or getting enough water pressure to the top. Keep in mind some units don't have all 3 spray arms going at the same time you may have certain cycles that work certain arms but that's typically when you have a diverter.

Sorry for the hosed-up model number. It's actually KUDS30IVBL3.
Other than the ProScrub ball bearings, which are controlled by magnets under the tub, I don't know how at least the upper two arms couldn't be working at the same time.
I've tried toggling the ProScrub option - maybe the magnet solenoid is shot, although we've literally never used that feature.
There's enough pressure in the bottom arm to hit the top of the tub. When I open the door mid-cycle, the waters dripping from the "ceiling" of the tub.
We've been running it on the lower tray, but even that is getting a white film, although not as bad as the upper tray.
I'm completely flummoxed. Anyone have any ideas? I'm not thrilled about buying a new dishwasher, but the wife's had it with this thing and if I can't pull off a 11th-hour fix, we'll be buying a shiny new Bosch later today.
