My icemaker stopped making ice a few weeks ago, so I lifted the metal arm, removed the tray that catches the ice, then replaced it and put the metal arm back down. About a minute after I did that, ice ejected into the tray and the icemaker filled back up. It worked for a few days then it stopped. I lifted the metal arm and put it back down and it ejected the ice that was in there. I am able to manually eject the ice by doing that, but I can't get it to start automatically ejecting ice again.

Should I have it replaced, or is there something simple I can do to repair this?

Thanks in advance! :)

Sounds like the module (AP4359694) is sticking and needs to be replaced. Each time you lift the bail arm, you are basically waking the ice maker up and it starts to move again. The module is behind the while cover in front and is held in place with three screws. The bail arm will also need to be removed, then pushed back in to slot in the new module. Then you should have your automatic ice maker working again.

Thanks for replying!

Would you say that it's an easy enough repair for a non-technician to do? That doesn't sound difficult, but I've never done any repairs to my freezer or refrigerator before. I'm not intimidated by trying, but need to know if this might be a 2 hour project or a 2 day project. :)

Thanks again!

As long as you can use a screwdriver, I would say a 5 minute project. If not, maybe 10 minutes. To change the module only requires the three screws and if you forget to remove the bail arm, you will be reminded when you try and pull the module. Turn off power to the refer first to avoid any shocks, then make the change. Easy enough to do.

Awesome. I can use a screwdriver and I definitely have 10 minutes. Thanks so much for listing the part and the instructions!
