Maytag washer won't spin very fast during the spin cycle. I changed the thrust bearing but when I manually try to turn the wheel counter clockwise the tub won't move. Seems it might be something in the brake or the brake isn't engaging or something. Thanks.

When you replaced that pulley kit, did you get one of the washers on the very bottom before the C clip was put on?

Thank you. Was the pulley kit replaced because of this problem initially? When you turn the pulley, does it keep turning even though the tub does not or does it stop?

Yes, pulley keeps turning even though tub does not. I can push the little cam that is underneath the c-clip and washer with a screwdriver to where it seems to "lock" and the tub will turn very slowly. Otherwise it won't turn at all.

Did you put lubricant between the two plastic cams when installing the kit? When you turn the pulley, can you see the white cam travel down in the center of the pulley?

Yes, lubed both pieces. Cam moves with the pulley, it does not remain stationary. I have to manually move it.

For whatever reason, the pulley is not moving upwards. I can spin the pulley freely but it doesn't engage the transmission.

Did you get the white cam in correctly? It really has no choice but to drive the pulley up when the pulley is turned.
