Hello,

I have been reading through some of the Kitchen Aid oven repair threads and have not found anything that I can use to work on my oven.

My oven is currently not heating in bake, broil, or clean. The panel reads just fine but it stays on 'lo' and never gets warm at all. I have placed my hand on the bottom after letting it run for 10 or 15 min and the metal is still room temperature. I tried putting the oven in 'clean' to see if I would get the 'door' error message, but I do not. Also, we have not run the self-clean, the oven just cooled down during dinner making one night from 350 to 0 as we were roasting beets. However, I will say that we had been baking bread lots, heating the oven up to 500 on a regular basis for an hour or two at a time.

I should note that the range works fine.

I am in the process of borrowing a multimeter so I can run some diagnostics that perhaps you folks recommend.

Your range has a double relay that controls the power to both oven elements. I suspect that relay has failed. The relay is pictured at the link below and will have a yellow wire connected to it from the control board. If you read 120 VAC from that yellow wire to ground when the oven is on, the relay is not operating as it should and will need to be replaced. If you do not read 120 VAC at that yellow wire, the control is having issues. Let me know what you find!

As soon as I get my hands on a multimeter i will run that test and report back.

Hey Ninja,

I got my hands on a multimeter and ran that test. With the oven on I did get 120 VAC from the yellow wire to ground.

I attached a picture of the relay that I tested. Next step you figure is replacing the relay, or are there any other tests I should run first?

If you have 120 VAC at that yellow wire, the relay is faulty.

Hey Ninja,

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I cannot find a site that will ship that part in or to Canada.

Might have to go the traditional route and just call a repair service. Which sucks.

Not sure. I am pretty close to Toronto, Canada, one of the countries biggest cities. I would imagine that there must be a parts supply place somewhere in or near town. However, I also noticed that many parts houses consider this relay to be obsolete/discontinued.
