Recently I noticed the delay start feature on my dishwasher no longer works. All of the other functions seem to be fine. The reset - pressing alternate buttons back and forth - did not fix the issue.
Can anyone provide any information on possible control panel troubleshooting? I have been searching for technical information on the unit such as parts breakdown, wiring schematics, etc and cant find a thing.
Thanks,

Your touch panel may be experiencing a failure. You may need to replace the control panel but there is a trick you can try first. Turn the power off to the appliance. Use a hair dryer to heat the panel up until very warm while rubbing firmly over the buttons. Often times, this will restore operation. Be sure to get the panel very warm but not hot enough to damage the plastic.. Let me know what happens with delay buttons.

thanks, i will give that a try. I was pretty sure it is the pad, but couldnt find any info on inputs or outputs to check it.
Years ago, like in the late 70s, when i worked on computer peripherals these touchpads started coming out. Even then, in their infancy, we found them to be very reliable. i am surprised this one has started giving problems so soon - less than 3 years.

These actually have a pretty high failure rate. I suspect it is because of the heat from the inside and the cool from the outside create moisture in the pads. That is why the heat and rubbing helps, it displaces and helps to evaporate the moisture. I have posted the table below if you want to test the panel. Let me know what happens.

Steve, did the hair dryer work? My dishwasher sounds like the delay start is working but nothing moves and when the time comes to start, nothing happens. My dishwasher is about 14 years old. Perhaps it is time for a new one?

The hair dryer trick did not work. I had to replace the panel.
