My 14 year old Admiral washer becomes unbalanced on the spin cycle unless I use gentle wash. I am wondering if I should replace the lower bearing assembly and the spin bearing. Thanks

If it is not noisy but just coming unbalanced easily, the snubber ring, number 34 in the diagram below, will likely need to be replaced. This repair requires a brake removal tool to remove the brake to access the snubber ring. The snubber is available below but the tool is no longer available. I have posted a link to it so you can see what it looks like, though.

The tool is at the link below. I have, in the past, removed three of the screws holding the cover in place and replaced them with longer screws, then removed the rest of the original screws. Then, you can use the longer screws to slowly release the brake. However, I cannot recommend you do that because it is not the safest way to remove the brake.

You will also want to replace the pulley kit below.
