Started with everything frosting up. I checked the thermostat in a cup of ice water...no good. replaced that. The frost seems to have bound up the baffle so badly that the open/close mechanism is damaged...replaced the baffle and the thermistor. The diagnostic lights sequence says everything is OK. I still have food freezing on the refrigerator side. There is a frost build up on the small vent that opens into the bottom drawer. What next?

There are 2 vents near the drawers, I just want to make sure we are talking about the same one. Is it number 2 or number 4 vent that you are seeing frost at? Does just the lower drawers freeze or the entire fresh food section?

Thanks for the reply!
Vent 2 has the frost build up. Vegetables in the drawer freeze. A thermometer on the top shelf is at 30 f in the morning. It climbs some during the day but I think that is from openning and closing the door.

Thank you! Does the evaporator fan running in the freezer sound the same all the time or does it appear to speed up and slow down? Does that number 2 vent frost up even when it is closed?

I can't hear a difference in the evaporator fan. Could it be that it is always running? About the smaller vent frosting up, I can say that it frosts up for sure at 3/4 closed. I cleared out the ice and closed it completely. I will see what happens over the next couple days. Thanks for your insight!

The evaporator fan should run any time the compressor runs. So with both controls set at midpoint, the fresh food section still freezes?

Both controls have been at the lowest setting for a week. This morning the thermometer we put on the top shelf is at 30 degrees.

Can you feel air coming in from the damper?

Yes. Checked a few times at random intervals. Always a slight air flow.

Can you check to see that it is not stuck in the open position?
