Oven will preheat then does not hold temp after that. I replaced the ignitor and tested it with the flame spreader out. The oven would hold temp and did not shut off. I put the oven back together and we baked one thing and it worked. We tried to use the oven again last night and it started to not hold temp again. I took out the flame spreader and the oven once again held temp for over an hour with the spreader out. When I put the flame spreader back it would preheat but then stops keeping the temp up after about 20-30 minutes.

Is this on NG or LP fuel? How is the flame for the oven burner as far a s size and color? Is this a new problem that has just presented?

What happens to the flame when the flame spreader is put in place? When the oven starts to cool, does the igniter come on and the flame just not light or what exactly happens?

Before I replaced the igniter the igniter would turn on but the flames would not start. Now I don't even think the igniter comes on. It will cycle through a few times and come on and so will the flames but after a while it just stops.

Thank you, but it will work fine if you leave the flame spreader off?

Without the flame spreader it works great. I test it for almost an hour and a alf this morning and it maintained heat the whole time.

That is quite odd because the flame spreader should have nothing to do with the igniter getting its voltage. It sounds like an air flow issue or something to do with the combustion air, but the behavior tied to the flame spreader is very odd. Are the flames the same size with the spreader on, just fanned out, or do they get smaller?

It is hard to see but it seems that the flames are just as strong once the flame spreader is put on.

This is quite an odd problem. The flame spreader cannot have anything to do with the voltage, so it has to be an issue with the air flow or gas valve. Does the flame appear lazy or wispy, in that it flows away from the burner or floats lazily when the flame spreader is on? Can you take a video of the flame and upload it to YouTube and send a link?
