I registered just to post this : THANK YOU.
For anyone else referencing this post - I'll give you some confirmation that this worked out.

I have a Maytag MHWE500VW11.

No one ever comes back to confirm that these things work after help was provided, so i thought I would do that myself.

There was a slight change to the instructions , however - so I'll go over what was required.

It started with the 3 beeps. I replaced the front user interface first - which did nothing to fix the problem - but luckily I stumbled on this thread afterwards.

So I followed the instructions as such :

"Remove the screws from the rear edge of the top panel and remove that panel. In the RF corner of the machine you will see the machine control."

"With the machine unplugged, locate the connector in the spot labeled MI3 on the control and carefully remove it. Then, plug the machine back in and see if it will power up."

This worked, which confirmed that the motor control is shorted. To access the motor control (in my washer) - you need to open the front - NOT the back panel.

There are three screws on the very bottom of the front of the washer which did the trick. Swapping out the part worked from there. The cables are on the front side of the part, and it is physically closer to the front as well, for reference.

Anyway - thanks again.
