Hello there, We've got a Whirlpool Quiet Partner II which does not drain at the end of a cycle, even when the Cancel/Drain button is pushed. The motor in the drain pump sounds like it is trying to drain but no water flows through the drain. Here is what we have tried so far:
1. Checked to make sure there were no blockages in the drain hoses or sump area. 2. Replaced the check valve. It was damaged (the circle portion had come off.) 3. Replaced the drain pump. The old one seemed to try and work but did not pump the water out. The new one does the same thing.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try next? We do not have a garbage disposal or air gap. Thanks.

If the pump is running, you have to have an obstruction in the drain line somewhere. If you lay the drain hose on the floor, will water run out?

Yes, water will run through the hose. We actually took it outside and used the water hose to verify that. Any idea where the obstruction could be?

There are two drain hoses, one from the pump that runs up and to the top of the tub on the LH side and then the second one that hooks onto that and leads to your home's plumbing. Water flowed through both hoses?

Water flowed through the drain hose which connects to the sink. The other one I did not take completely off. I will take the unit out and more closely examine the other drain hose. I also tried vinegar and baking soda to unclog whatever may be causing the problem and that didn't work.

The first hose that is connected to the pump goes up and is attached in clips on the side of the dishwasher. The hose narrows at these points and that is where it usually plugs at. So, play close attention to the areas where the hose is attached to the tub.

Appliance Ninja, that first hose was the problem area. The rubber circle from the drain check valve was lodged in the bent attachment area and something I could not see was also restricting water flow in the narrow areas. A plumber's snake took care of whatever that was. The dishwasher is working properly now. Thank you for pointing me towards the first hose. I had not even paid much attention to it before. Now I know there are two distinct drain hoses and they both need to be checked.
