This dryer got a new heating element about a year ago, which replaced all the fuses and such, but used the existing wires. No problems since then. Suddenly it turns without heating. Looking inside, I see that what is apparently the main power wire to the ceramic connector on the side of the heating element is broken and the insulation appears melted or at least cracked as if heated or burned. This is the wire that comes in from under the motor together with the two leads to the thermal fuse just above. All the other wires appear okay. I just stopped there without checking the fuses, because that entire wire and the lug connector should be replaced, but very uncertain about where this wire originates, its gauge and other specs.
