Hello,

My dishwasher will fill with water and will also drain.
It heats the water but does not clean the dishes.

The spray arms appear to be clear and I have searched in vain for
any blockages.

The motor will turn when I spin the the blades from behind with a stick.
So it does not appear to be locked up.

What could the problem be?

Thanks

Can you hear the motor humming or buzzing after it fills with water? Do you have a meter to test for voltage with?

Appliance Ninja, thanks for your interest.

Yes, the motor hums and the blades on the back of the motor are turning.
I just got a multimeter but dont know how to take the reading or what is considered a good reading

Thanks

If the blades are turning, the motor is working. So, that means that the issue is with the recirculation of the water. Number 508 filter is likely plugged. It is under the number 506 cover. Can you have a look at that filter and see if it is indeed plugged?

I took the filter out this afternoon, it had a little debris but was definitely not clogged. Also I ran my hand down into the hole where the filter was but could not find any blockage.

Okay, so if that filter is clean, the motor is running and there is adequate water in the tub, the recirculation impeller will likely need to be replaced. The kit comes with installation instructions and is available below.
