My 4 year old LG fridge/freezer recently (in last 2 months) started making a loud buzz and what sounds like ice cubes dropping for ice maker. The ice maker has never been hooked up. It does this about every hour or so but not all the time...if that makes sense. Any ideas what it could be? I read somewhere that it could possibly be ice build up and the fan hitting the ice? I'm pretty handy but not a repair person.

Thanks.

Cannot say what it is without being there.

If you feel it is the ice maker then just unplug it to eliminate it as a possible cause.
