Opened up the panel and found the above image. Trying to figure out what I need in terms of parts. Obviously new control board. Any help in tracing back the shorted wire would be much appreciated

Here are your parts
Parts for Whirlpool DU1145XTPB1 Dishwasher - AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

Looks like it was the tan wire 120 volt power in for most of the parts.
I doubt it is a dead short as this should have blown the thermal fuse which will also blow with excessive current.

You could check the various parts for resistance.

It could be just a problem with the board.
Perhaps the lug was not properly soldered to the board.
The electricity then sees this as a resistance and heat is generated as current passes through it.
This further degrades the connection causing more heat and degrading the connection and so on and so on till the connection fails.

Thanks denman. The tan wire was to the door switch. Replaced both the wire and switch along with the control board. All is good!
