Hello,
I have a 1997 Maytag Stackable DS9904 Washer/Dryer,
white membrane switch controller unit, no knobs...electric.
The Dryer Heater quit working after 17 years of great service.

Removed 45 deg. angled front cover.

I removed and checked the Element:
measure 11 ohms and see no opens, shorts, or wire discoloration.

Checked the black round Thermo switches, left/ right side in rear.
Both measure continuity, and what looks like
2 ceramic thermal resistor blocks, they show continuity also.

I removed and tested in-circuit also, the Heater Element control [COLOR="Red"]Relay[/COLOR]
(on the right side) bottom coil leads show 22 volts on, zero off.
I also see it physically activate thru plastic shell.
So it tells me controller and relay seem to be working...

I measure nothing across the 2 load wires [Thick Black/[COLOR="Sienna"]Brown[/COLOR] ]
during the Dry cycle...But it shows 108 vac during air fluff.

is this suppose to be 220 vac? Did I lose a phase?

Perhaps there's another Thermal ckt I have not found..?
I see the Relay black wire runs to 220 Terminal block.
(didn't remove cover)
but the brown wire, I have not traced all the way inside the unit.
Disappears behind a vent shroud..

Maytag changes the color to [COLOR="Indigo"]purple[/COLOR] then[COLOR="Sienna"] brown[/COLOR] again...bit irritating.

I would like to order a schematic if one can be found.

I cannot find any info on the given model number.
Please check it.

I tried at AppliancePartsPros, Sears parts and the Whirlpool/Maytag site and nothing comes up.

I am assuming this is a north American unit.

Unplug the unit and check power at the wall receptacle
Should be:
L1 to Neutral = 120 volts
L2 to Neutral = 120 volts
L1 to L2 = 240 volts.

Note that sometimes a breaker can loose half the line without tripping fully.
Turn the breaker off then on.
Often this is just something that happens and it is a one of or very rare event.
Sometimes it is either a machine or a wiring problem.
