The washer stopped after the wash cycle and would not rinse or spin. I tried turning the dial to other cycles and parts of cycles but nothing happened, just a low volume hum that later stopped. I did not smell anything (e.g., burning rubber or electrical). I increased the water level indicator, turned the dial to a wash cycle and water flowed in normally.
I removed the drain pump and its pulley turned freely. The drive belt lay on the floor below where the pump had been; I did not have to remove the belt from the pump pulley. I could find no debris in the pump or hoses. The motor pulley moves freely. The pulleys have dirt in them but nothing excessive. The drive belt surface is not curved, cupped, cracked, or melted anywhere, but has slight wear on the sides in places. It feels flexible.
I opened the front and observed no obvious problems. Ideas, suggestions?
