How do I re-install the stove top knobs on a DCS rgu-305?
There's a small metal piece that goes with the knob. If I push the metal piece all the way into the knob, then install the knob on the stem, the knob is too close to the panel and will not turn smoothly. If I push the metal piece slightly into knob, and then push it onto the stem, most of the time the metal piece will go all the way into the anyway knob and I get the same result.

I cannot find any info on this unit.
If the small metal clip you refer to is a spring clip that fits to a flat side on the control stem then normally it should be pushed all the way in.
I am not sure why/what the problem is.
Once the clip is in the knob why do you not just push it onto the control shaft so that it turns the control but does not contact the panel?
If it works OK like this but the knob has a tendency to get pushed further on with use, try putting a small ball of paper into the knob before installing it. This should stop it from moving.
It may take some experimenting to get the paper to the correct size.
There is always a possibility that the knob is broken inside and a stop for the clip is no longer in it. |
