I have a similar model (FES355DSB) with control in front. Been looking forever online (and saw your post) for answers and finally figured it out. So I had to come back and pass the word. You don't need to take out any screws on the underside of the board. What's holding the panel down can be found under the control knobs. Remove the knobs and you'll see that the pegs have a white round plastic white base with grooves on either side. The base is actually a screw itself. Use a flat-head screw driver and place it in the groove and pushing a little (counter-clock wise) to loosen it. Then you can unscrew with your hands. The panel lifts right up. Though be careful and don't yank it off. The oven light switch is still attached to it, so just slide the panel onto the stove top. Hope this helps.
