my digital temperature display on front door of upright freezer went out.Lost food in freezer. two months ago I went to get something out of freezer and noticed the display read "0". Lost food then. I had thought that maybe I had leaned on the door and accidentally hit the temp control. Now two months later I found the control Blank(not illuminated). I pulled the control off and found it has a circuit board under it with 8 pins(male) that you just push it in to the door into an 8pin (female).I see in the schematic that this control controls evrything including defrost. When I reistalled the control and plugged in the freezer it worked. Im afraid to put food in the freezer because i think this control board is acting up and maybe I should replace it.CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. THANKS VERY MUCH

If you never replaced it then it's time to do it. Make sure the connector is plugged all the way in.

installed new digital display/board. so far so good. will check it daily for a while. with the old board installed i tryed fiddling with the molex wire connectors and tapping the old control while unit was running thinking I could have a bad connector but didnt have a problem. thats what led me to believe the old board was having intermittent issues. thanks again Gene for your help

I read this thread and just need to know "how do I remove and replace the temperature control board?"

Do I just pry it off the front of the door and carefully pull the wire harness out, unplug, then plug the new one in and carefully feed the connector and wiring back into the door and then press it into place? I think a bit of masking tape on the door all the way around the temperature control panel to protect the finish would be in order. Then, using a 1" wide wood chisel to {as gently as possible} slip under the perimeter of the part and leveraging out a little at a time all the way around until victory occurs. This sound correct to you? If not, I would love to hear the right way of doing it.
